Laser Hardened Edge

As the name implies, Lazer Blade is actually edge hardened using a laser beam. This patented Helmold process gives Lazer Blade a much more thorough and precise edge hardness. With the edge hardened to approximately 61 Rockwell, Lazer Blade quite simply offers the hardest cutting edge in the industry and will outlast and outperform its competition. Lazer Blade’s superior edge will keep from “curling” and remain sharper longer, virtually eliminating “dusting”, and “angelhair” issues at the press.

Unrivaled Bendability

Normally the rule of thumb is the harder the rule the less it will bend. Not so with Lazer Blade. Although Laser Blade has the hardest and most durable edge in the industry, due to a unique micro structure it remains extremely ductile. This allows Lazer Blade to nearly bend back on itself without cracking or flaking and allows diemakers to make even the most extreme bends. This makes Lazer Blade not only the most durable hard edged rule on the market but also the most bendable.

Outstanding Height Tolerance Guaranteed

Lazer Blade comes with a height variation guarantee of +/- .00025” per box. Lazer Blade is 100% laser checked twice to ensure dimensional integrity. It is not only laser guided for precise dimensioning in production, but it also receives a 100% laser check for height consistency before being packaged. This unique Helmold process makes Lazer Blade the most height consistent rule on the market. This incredible height tolerance combined with its “swage” reducing design, really does make Lazer Blade “Made-Ready” rule.

Now In 2 Body Tempers

Standard Lazer Blade comes with an approximate 61 Rockwell hardness on the edge and a body hardness of around 34 Rockwell, which makes it the preferred rule for almost any application. However, if you prefer a slightly stiffer rule body, we also offer Lazer Blade H (hard). Lazer Blade H also has an approximate 61 Rockwell on the edge, but its body hardness is around 41 on the Rockwell scale. You will find both products have exceptional bending capabilities.

Exceptional Features for Quality, Consistency and Economy.

Unrivaled Bendability

Normally the rule of thumb is the harder the rule the less it will bend. Not so with Ultra Flex. Although it is a superior through hardened rule, due to a unique micro structure it remains extremely ductile. This allows Ultra Flex to nearly bend back on itself without cracking or flaking and allows diemakers to make even the most extreme bends.

Designed to Reduce “Swaging”

Generally, when tightly bending rule, the material is slightly distorted and a divot or dip is created on the cutting edge at the bend. This distortion is known as “swaging”. The more pronounced the swaging, the more increased pressure is required at the press. Using a unique profile on its bottom edge, Ultra Flex has been specifically engineered to reduce this type of distortion. Therefore, you will see significantly less swaging when putting extreme bends in Ultra Flex in comparison to its competition. The “chamfered” design feature also makes it easier for Ultra Flex to slide into the dieboard kerf.

Fits all your diemaking needs. Fits your budget, too.

Ultra Flex truly is an Economy rule. In fact, it is generally priced far below other competing economy rules. Not only does Ultra Flex outperform its comparable competition but also outperforms most premium priced rules. With a consistent thorough temper of approximately 45 Rockwell on the cutting edge, the body and through the entire rule, Ultra Flex is also a truly through hardened cutting rule. However, due to an exceptional decarburization layer and a unique micro structure, Ultra Flex has unrivaled ductility, allowing for even the most extreme bends without cracking, flaking or swaging.

Helmold manufactures the finest manual bending equipment in the world. They have equipment to meet any die-maker’s needs, including; Standard Equipment for 2 and 3 point rule, Heavy Duty Equipment for 3 and 4 point rule, and EZ Equipment for any thickness of rule. EZ Equipment is designed to make life easier for die-makers by reducing the effort it takes to bend rule; generally it requires about 1/3 of the effort of Heavy Duty Equipment. Helmold also offers a huge variety of tooling for all their equipment.

All of Helmold’s bending equipment is available through Shreiner Creasing Matrix.
